I Chose the Piano—Even When They Told Me to Give Up
I first discovered the piano at a small neighborhood music school when I was seven.
The moment I pressed a C with my little fingers, something inside me shifted.
The world started to feel a bit different—more colorful, more hopeful.
A few years later, I suffered a serious rotator cuff injury in my shoulder.
The doctor told me I should stop playing the piano.
On the way home after that appointment,
it felt like my world was crashing down.
But I didn’t give up.
Instead, the piano became my source of healing.
It comforted my heart more than anything or anyone else could.
There were many difficult moments in my life.
Whenever I felt like I was falling apart, the piano helped me stand again.
It was my anchor—sometimes even more understanding than I was of myself.
One day, someone I knew listened to one of my performances and cried.
They later told me that my music changed their life.
Now, they’re living happily and in good health.
Moments like that remind me why I keep playing.
Even today, I want my music to bring comfort to someone who’s hurting.
To keep doing that, I’m grateful for your support and encouragement.
Your kindness makes this journey possible.
